🇬🇳Guinea
The world's leading bauxite exporter, the planet's largest untapped iron ore deposit at Simandou, and hydroelectric potential that earns it the nickname of West Africa's water tower.
Economic overview
Guinea is a country of 14 million people with one of the world's richest subsoils. It holds a third of global bauxite reserves and is the leading exporter, with Chinese, UAE, Russian and Western operators based in the Boké region. It also produces gold and diamonds and hosts the Simandou iron ore deposit, Africa's largest mining and rail project, which entered production in 2025 with a 600-km railway and a deep-water port.
The rivers that rise in the Fouta-Djalon, the Niger, Senegal and Gambia, give the country considerable hydro potential, partly realised with the Kaléta and Souapiti dams, which export electricity to neighbours. Agriculture, fruit, rice, palm, coffee, and fisheries remain under-exploited despite exceptional natural conditions.
The country has been in political transition since 2021, but major mining projects continue and the obligation to refine bauxite locally opens an alumina industry. UAE groups are among the most present in Guinean bauxite, and Dubai is the country's leading gold market.
Why invest in Guinea
Bauxite
A third of world reserves, the leading exporter, and a local refining obligation that opens the field to alumina and its services.
Simandou
Africa's largest mining project: high-grade iron ore, 600 km of rail, a deep-water port, and a subcontracting ecosystem to build.
Hydroelectricity
Kaléta and Souapiti dams, the Amaria and Koukoutamba projects, electricity exports to neighbours.
Gold and diamonds
Significant industrial and artisanal gold production, largely exported to Dubai.
Strategic sectors
Bauxite, iron ore, gold, diamonds
Mining, alumina refining, mining services, gold buying houses and trading.
Hydro, solar
Dams, regional interconnections and solar for mining sites.
Rail, ports, roads
The Simandou corridor, the ports of Conakry and Kamsar, national roads.
Fruit, rice, palm, coffee
Pineapple, mango, palm oil, rice from Maritime Guinea, coffee from Forest Guinea.
Conakry
Housing and commercial property in a capital of over 2 million people.
Processing
Significant fish resources and processing plants.
Opportunities for UAE investors
The UAE is very present in Guinean bauxite. These are the formats we structure.
- Bauxite and alumina
Equity and subcontracting in the refining projects required by the state.
- Gold to Dubai
Licensed buying houses, documentation and refining compliant with DMCC.
- Simandou subcontracting
Services, logistics, accommodation, energy and equipment for Africa's largest construction site.
- Agro-industry
Fruit, palm and rice processing for the local market and export.
- Real estate in Conakry
Developments with local developers in a city short of quality supply.
Risks and how we manage them
The institutional calendar remains uncertain. We secure contracts with stability clauses and OHADA arbitration.
The Guinean franc is volatile. We structure in dollars and hedge flows.
Roads and power are deficient outside mining sites. Every project includes its own logistics.
The mining code imposes obligations. We build them into the structure.

Dubai as your operating base
For a UAE investor, Guinea is best worked from Dubai. The city offers the tools that are often missing on the ground: a Free Zone holding company to carry the stake, banks used to African flows, a recognised international arbitration framework, tax treaties and investment protection agreements, and regular flights to the continent. For an entrepreneur or institution from Guinea, Dubai is symmetrically the gateway to Gulf capital, commodity buyers and Asian industrial partners. ABC Consultancy sits in the middle of that bridge: we know both shores and we speak to both.

Frequently asked questions
Is Simandou open to mid-sized investors?
Not the deposit itself, but its whole ecosystem: logistics, accommodation, energy, maintenance, catering, transport.
Conakry or Boké?
Conakry for administration, real estate and services; Boké and Kamsar for bauxite; Forest Guinea for Simandou.
What is the minimum ticket to invest in Guinea with ABC Consultancy?
There is no fixed threshold: it depends on the sector and the format. An equity stake in a mining project runs into millions of dollars, whereas a trading or real estate operation can start much lower. In the first conversation we tell you honestly whether your budget allows a serious transaction.
How long does a transaction take?
Expect three to six months between the scoping note and signature for a trading or real estate operation, and nine to eighteen months for a energy project requiring approvals, in-depth due diligence and structured financing.
How is ABC Consultancy paid?
Through engagement fees set in the scoping note, possibly completed by a success fee at signing. We never take hidden remuneration from a counterparty: our only loyalty is to you.
Do I need a Dubai company to invest in Guinea?
It is not mandatory, but it is often the best solution: a Free Zone holding carries the stake, benefits from tax treaties and protection agreements, and repatriates dividends within a clear framework. We set it up with you.
